When Our Writing stalls.
Distractions invade my brain. I trimmed around the sump pump, will it freeze? Yep, that woke me up at 2am last night. Is waking up at 2am concerned about the sump pump a mental health concern?
Probably.
My go to solution: Read a book, search for articles, and write.
I just finished Kate Bradbury’s ONE GARDEN AGAINST THE WORLD. This book is why I write. It lightened my load, made me smile, and almost made me cry—all over hedgehogs, yep, hedgehogs.
Where was I? Oh yeah, in my opinion, Bradbury is the adult Opal Whitely. She’s also my new most favorite person. I thanked her on her Substack page—along with her other thousand followers.
This morning Allison K William’s Brevity’s article, IS AN MFA WORTH IT FOR ASPIRING AUTHORS? also motivated me. No black white thinking, only pros and cons to consider. Refreshing. Note to self. Thank every member of my writing group and my two writing partners. They are gold.
Now I’m writing.
A book, an article, a platform to write, add coffee, 5am, the sunrise, and the scrub pines outside my window. Grateful.
